Material Formations introduces robotic production and material, dynamics as active agents in design rationalization and expression. Through computer programming, physics-based simulation, and robot motion planning, relations between architectural form, structure and material across a number of scales have been explored. Studying the development of materials and how they can form new conditions through computation inspired me to continue the exploration of possible future environments. These studies of materials and their constructability can inform new architectural and environmental devices to solve pressing matters in today’s fabrication and manufacturing.
